Imogen Heap

The former Frou Frou lass has really come into her own and continues to kick her pink stiletto-ed heels with joy and amaze us with her music. Imogen Heap reached the top spot on the BZ Top 10 during the last week of July 2008 with her new track, "Not Now But Soon", which is on the soundtrack for the TV show Heroes.

Her songwriting and voice has always been unique and her previous releases, "Speak For Yourself" and "I Megaphonic" have been nothing but Imogen. She has been compared to many different artists, but in the eyes of Below Zero, Imogen has always had her own fresh sound and traveled her own path. She is more than just a singer, she is a writer, a producer and a musician. This is no little girly who sits back and allows someone else to push the buttons for her, she is the one down in it working the board, a room full of instruments and putting pen to paper and collecting sound effects. In 2003 she parted ways with Island Records, who released Frou Frou's "Details", though they were keen to put out the solo album she felt it best for a change of secenary. Imogen recalls, "I signed my first deal when I was just 17 and I've been on the one label or another since then. I didn't think I'd end up releasing it on a label of my very own but once I'd finished I didn't want to give it all away again, especially as I'd put everything I had into it."

Wise choice! Imogen forged her own path and with the album done and dusted, Heap can't help but revel in her serendipity. "Ever since I decided to do this one my own, great things have come my way." she says sitting back in her fluffy studio chair. Not withstanding her star-struck surveyor, other factors have also seemingly conspired in her favour. Last year, Scrubs-star Zach Braff personally selected the Frou Frou track, "Let Go" for the soundtrack to his critically acclaimed indie-hit and directorial debut, "Garden State", helping to fuel the Imogen Heap fire. She has also been featured on TV shows such as, "The OC", "CSI" and "Six Feet Under".

"I feel nothing can stop me," she says through a huge grin. "This is just the beginning and I can't sit still with excitement to see how things are going to pan out".
