Morcheeba
Over the last decade Morcheeba have sold multi-million albums, pushed the boundaries of downtempo with their soul and country-inflected mood music and have released their sixth album, “Dive Deep”. Their sound has always leaned towards the chill-out and trip hop sound and they have collaborated with a variety of singers and musicians, but Morcheeba has always kept it together even despite a very rocky road of tension and stress when the band about imploded. The brothers, Paul and Ross Godfrey agreed that for the new album Paul would produce, and this decision has not only restored the band’s faith and foundation but also brought about a new set of ideas and moods. “It felt great to put the past to rest and it was refreshing that nobody placed any expectations on us,” says Paul. “We were free again to dive deep within and bring the music out naturally. We had done our fair share of trying to be fashionable and emulating other stuff and now we were confident enough to be ourselves.” For BZ this album is truly a welcome back for Morcheeba! They took chances and as Paul Godfrey mentions you can really feel this music inside, it was hard for us to focus in on one track, but in the end “Enjoy The Ride” was our pick and this week hits #1 on the BZ Top 10. http://www.morcheeba.co.uk
