| Lisa Shaw |
Lisa Shaw has one of the best warm and sexy voices in the world of House music. She first graced the house heads with her release back in 1995 and has become one of the top "Divas" in her field. Shaw is nearly ubiquitous in the house music scene. She's collaborated with many famous producers, and has appeared on countless compilations. And finally, in 2001, she began to make tentative steps toward the spotlight.'
It all started in New York City, almost by accident. The Toronto native came to New York on vacation...and never went home. Growing up in Canada, the last of six children and with parents of Jamaican heritage she had many genres of music that influenced her. Her father and brother were both djs and at a very young age she had the opportunity to see acts like "Sister Sledge, "Chic" and "Kool and the Gang". Lisa grew up in a house filled with reggae, funk soul, jazz, folk, rock, disco, and new wave. "There wasn't anything she didn't listen to or wasn't open to when it came to music, and it shows in her work to date." Being in New York, Lisa received a warm welcome from the underground electronic community, and released her first single, written by DJ Smash and titled "Makin' Love Makin' Music," in 1995. Many other records followed and independent labels like Ubiquity, Sirkus UK, Grand Central and New Breed Records were the first to release Shaw's music, but soon, larger labels including RCA and Astralwerks began to take notice. Her Naked Music release "You are Love" & "Always" earned global acclaim and eventually convinced the label to sign her as a solo artist. In 2002, even Madonna noted her song "Always" as being "so Cool" in Rolling Stone Magazine. She then teamed up with writing partners Dave Warrin, Jay Denes and Eric Stamile to produce her debut album "Cherry" which was released in 2005. During that time and even now she has collaborated and toured with producers such as Miguel Migs, and Petal Pusher Live, Fred Everything, Andy Caldwell, Q-Burns Abstract Message, Tim K, Julius Papp and JT Donaldson. 2009, Lisa brings you her second album "Free" being released on Salted Music. "FREE" showcases Lisa's illustrious voice through a well-crafted journey of soulful vibes and bouncy gems, with producers Dave Warrin, Miguel Migs, and Tim K keeping it moving. New House-Classics "Feel" and "All Night High" are supported by chill-inducing down-tempo beauties like "Better Days", "Honey", and new Dance-Floor stompers "Music In You" and "Like I Want To."
