The entire music scene was new terrain for Peek, culturally and musically. The scene was underground as they say. Futuristic sounds combined with a tight knit and diverse community of people, offered something different from previous musical experiences. "The music rocked, was funky as hell, and to my virgin electronic ears, the sounds came from another world," recalls Peek. The event marked a turning point in Peek’s life, after which he never looked at electronic music the same. By 2000, while hosting his own weekly radio program at the award-winning radio station KUSF, Peek met Mason Rothert and became involved with Thump Radio, a well-known collective of DJ’s dedicated to the electronic music movement. Between promoting for monthly Thump events, producing radio shows for ThumpRadio.com, and helping with Thump’s show on the KUSF airwaves; Brian found time to spread the music to his college peers. Brian founded EMA (Electronic Music Appreciation), an organization that offered workshops and lectures aimed at educating interested members of the community on how to make music with computers, samplers, and live instruments. By 2004, Mason Rothert & Sinukus asked Peek to join forces as opening resident DJ for Thump’s highly successful "ThumpChill", a weekly chilled out happy hour that welcomed guests such as Jondi & Spesh, Garth, Didje Kelli, Felix The Dog, Jonathan Ojeda, Ben Doren, Mixmaster Morris, and Kaya Project, among others. Peek can be found playing sexy down-tempo & midtempo groove, future jazz, electronic rock and chilled beats at San Francisco's premier clubs, lounges, and restaurants such as the Slanted Door, Supperclub, Anu, 550 Barneveld, DNA Lounge, Mezzanine, Kelly's Mission Rock, Blowfish Sushi, Harlot, and with the Ambient Mafia at underground events around the Bay Area. Today, Peek collaborates with top-rated San Francisco radio show "Below Zero", helping to grow and develop the show and label imprint as an internationally recognized brand for cutting edge, electronic chillout music. As a lover of all music, Peek is inspired by everything from house to trance to punk to hip-hop, all genres influencing his cutting-edge style and creative palate. As he puts it, "My musical influences are all over the place, but are rooted in New Wave & Industrial music, 90's rap/metal bands, the psy-funk sounds of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the breakbeats of golden era hip hop/trip hop, and bands like Guns & Roses, Nine Inch Nails, The Crystal Method, 311, Weezer, Pink Floyd, Smashing Pumpkins, Depeche Mode, Bassnectar, Mylo, Shpongle, and too many others to name. My programming is rooted by these influences but not limited by them. I like my music to include both body music and head music with some emotional twists and turns."
